Locate the pink impression before replacing the paint
Pale Oak may look pink in a particular room, but that is not a guaranteed result on every wall. Benjamin Moore identifies warm gray undertones; test the reported pink impression against the actual floor, trim and light.
Place a fully dried Pale Oak sample beside the oak floor and the fixed white trim separately. If the pink appearance is strongest at one edge, note that relationship. Then move the board to a quieter background. The purpose is to distinguish a color interaction from a problem that remains across the room.
Change one comparison at a time
Remove green sample chips and strongly colored accessories from the immediate test area, then restore the furnishings that will remain. Compare daylight with the regular evening lamps. Do not infer a permanent formula defect from a phone photograph, and do not approve a lighting change simply because it disguises one wall sample.
Pale Oak has an LRV of 68.64; Benjamin Moore Classic Gray OC-23 is 73.67. The difference is 5.03 points, with Classic Gray returning more light under the reference measurement. Classic Gray tests a lighter nearby neutral direction. It is not a guaranteed pink-free replacement, so it needs the same floor and trim checks.
Decide whether the remaining cast is acceptable
If Pale Oak appears pink beside the permanent finishes under the light used every day, that is enough reason to choose a different wall color. If the effect occurs only next to an unused comparison chip, remove the chip and assess the intended palette by itself. The finished room will not contain the entire sample collection.
Keep the review focused on the real oak finish: golden, reddish and pale timber are different starting points. Make a note of which surface makes the pink impression stronger and whether that surface can change. Choose the paint for the room you will keep, rather than trying to prove that someone else's description of Pale Oak is correct.
